Albury Eagles 2 – 2 Cranleigh Cobras
Today, as we expected, was a hard-fought match. Cranleigh opened the scoring in the first 5 minutes through Albury ‘old boy’ Harvey Owen who latched onto a through ball and lobbed the keeper to make it 1 – 0. Then after some great end to end football Albury equalised midway through the second half. Rather like Cranleigh’s goal, a through ball was latched onto by Dan Kelly who made no mistake with a perfect lob over the on-rushing keeper for 1 – 1. Then Albury had a goal disallowed when the ball was adjudged to have crossed the by-line as Dan Kelly crossed the ball for Luke Cannon to tap the ball home from 2 yards. Then Carl Jelley again gave Cranleigh the 2 – 1 lead with a fierce shot that beat Ben Walter in the Albury goal. With 10 minutes to go manager John Caley changed tactics and decided to play just 3 defenders at the back and try push hard to get the equaliser. Within a minute of the tactical change a ball from the back found Dan Kelly on the wing that beat his defender and crossed for Luke Cannon to head past a wrong footed Cranleigh keeper. That made the score 2 -2. Both teams went for the win in the dying seconds but couldn’t find the winning goal. The final whistle went and both teams took a point from a very good, competitive match.
Well done to the boys once again.

Albury Eagles 9 - 4 Southwater United Black
The U14s played Southwater at home on Saturday. There were a few positional changes this week and the boys took a little while to settle. Unfortunately we conceded an early goal but managed to equalise before half time. After the break, Albury came out with all guns blazing and took a 4 goal lead with in 5 minutes with strikes from Dan Cannon and Harry Good. Southwater fought hard and pulled 2 goals back from corners making it 5 -3. Albury then reverted back to a more usual line up and the game finished 9 – 4. Goal scorers were:- Dan Cannon 4, Harry Good 3, Steve Lake and James Hern 1 each. MOM Harry Good

Albury Eagles 0 - 3 Lingfield
Having dominated for the best of the first half, with Tom Beazley and Philip Smith ( man of the match ) working well on the wings to produce some great attacking play Albury failed to convert any of their many chances early on against Lingfield.
Defensively solid at the back , with Tom Gill and Alex Dangerfield dealing with the few Lingfield frontline attacks, Albury were unlucky to come off the field at half-time a goal down after a rare Lingfield break away goal.
The second half saw Lingfield ( last years B league and plate cup winners) pull further ahead with two more goals which Albury under 13’s were unable to come back from.

Maidenbower United 4 – 2 Albury Eagles
A frustrating morning for Eagles as they suffered their first league defeat of the season at the hands of a well-organised Maidenbower side.
Last season’s common habit of dozing through the first 15 minutes of a game came back to haunt a side clearly low on confidence after last week’s 15 - 2 Cup mauling. Two down within 12 minutes, Eagles finally roused themselves from their slumber and dragged themselves back into the game. First, William Potts struck a post from a free kick and then shot narrowly wide. Five minutes before the break Eagles got a toehold in the game when Tommo Wall turned in a corner. Eagles pressed hard to get on equal terms and Elliott Cozens came closest when he headed a cross against an upright.
The second half continued where the first had finished with Eagles pressing hard for an equaliser, creating chances but unable to find the back of the net. Against the run of play, Maidenbower extended their lead with their first attack of the half, their centre forward first to react after a free kick struck the cross bar. Worse followed a few minutes later when a poor clearance was pounced on to restore Maidenbower’s two-goal cushion.
Elliott Cozens rifled home Eagles’ second from the edge of the area and despite sustained pressure Maidenbower held on comfortably.
