Albury Eagles 5 0 Cranleigh Cobras
A great performance today against our close rivals who were unbeaten till yesterday. Albury led 2 0 at halftime through goals from Zac Smith and Dan Kelly. Albury finished off the job with goals from Dan Kingshott, Jake Nurse and Chris Caley. We play Cranleigh away next week again. This will be a very hard match. Man of the Match was Dan Kingshott who showed true Captains qualities at the back and scored a goal too! Albury were flattered a little by the score line as Cranleigh were a strong, good side. Things did get a little niggly at the end as one of the Cranleigh players got booked.

Albury Eagles 6 2 Broadbridge Heath
Albury Eagles under 12s were keen to carry on with their winning ways in the League this week, and did just that by beating a Broadbridge Heath side 6-2. However, things did not start well for the Eagles who found themselves one goal down early on in the first half, but a slight lapse in concentration in the Broadbridge defence gave Christopher Brooks the opportunity he was looking for and he duly equalised. Broadbridge again took the lead, but Albury were able to equalise a second time through a goal by Tom Cantoni just before the break. Into the start of the second half, Albury started to show elements of why they won last seasons league trophy. The defence now working well with good performances by Colby Silver and Tom Gill made sure no more goals were leaked by the Eagles. Albury drove on and took the lead with a goal from Jack Childerstone, this was then added to by a Tom Cantoni penalty who went on to score another for his hat-trick and in the process earning himself the man of the match award. An own goal late in the game gave Albury the overall scoreline of 6-2 and a win that raised them to the top of the B league table.

Brockham Badgers A 4 6 Albury Eagles
A great performance against the top team in our division.Albury started with no subs today and it looked as if we may struggle for a result. But everybody knuckled down and we had good performances all over the pitch. Albury led 4 0 at halftime. One goal from Harvey Owen and a hat trick from Dan Kelly. Into the second half and more of the same. Dan Kelly scored another 2 goals to make it 6-1. Brockham pulled back 3 goals to make the final score 6 4 to Albury. A great goalkeeping performance from Ben Walter, but Man of the Match went to Dan Kelly who terrorised the Brockham defence all match. At the rate of goals he is scoring he will have won the golden boot by Xmas!

NOTICES
Matchday Refreshments
Visits to other clubs are often complemented by the provision of matchday snacks and drinks bacon butties, cups of coffee etc.
Eagles are beginning to offer this as a service, obviously on a voluntary basis from parents keen to get involved. If you are willing to help on this front, please get in touch with the Club Secretary.
It will also raise some useful cash for the club coffers.
Many thanks.
Reporting
A plea from the Club Secretary - I need scores, scorers and reports in by Monday morning to make this newsletter effective. Holding on for several days until there is enough material denies us all the chance for a weekly newsletter providing all the match info from the previous Saturday.
Appoint a reporting rep for each age group or team would be a great idea if we could manage it, all I need is a couple of lines sent by email.
Thanks, Tony.
Girls Football
Whilst we intended to begin a girls side this season, there is still insufficient demand to make this happen.
Enquiries, in the first instance please, to Club Secretary.

Disturbing news from Nick Drew
at Surrey County FA
.
Please find below two articles released in The Times newspaper today, concerning parent and spectator behaviors in Youth and Mini-Soccer football, which both include quotes from the Surrey County FA Secretary Ray Ward, and the Assistant Secretary Mark Wood.
It is extremely worrying that these issues have become so commonplace that they are now a cause of national concern. As Charter Standard clubs I am now reaching out to you all to plead that you do your bit to help us combat these issues, as they are beginning to do some serious damage to our grass-roots game. You are the clubs that have been recognised for creating the safest and most enjoyable environments in which children and young adults can play and experience all the pleasures of the game, therefore you are the clubs that can potentially have the greatest impact on grass-roots football in Surrey.
Please encourage all members of your clubs, be it parents, players or coaches, to remember what grass-roots football is all about and please remind them that as Charter Standard Clubs, your clubs have the ability to set examples that other clubs will follow.

Thank you for all of your continued hard-work and efforts and please help us to put the enjoyment back into grass-roots football in Surrey.
Kind regards,
Nick Drew

No Christmas Party
AEFC committee last met on 3rd December, and amongst a number of matters discussed, decided not to hold a Christmas Party this year, originally planned for Sunday 16th December.
The event has become less appropriate as the older age groups no longer attend, and also more and more difficult to stage as everyones social diary becomes increasingly hectic at this time of year.
An Easter Egg trail is now planned for the spring.
