Albury Eagles 4 - 1 Dorkinians

A good result today against a team that we have never beaten. Drawing 1-1 at halftime after leading through a Harvey Owen goal. The second half was better than the first. A Dan Kelly hat-trick sealed the points in the second half and we should have had more. A rare appearance as substitute for Alex Henson who made his first appearance of the season. Man of the Match went to Zac Smith who played very well in defence.

Albury Eagles 3-1 Tadworth Lions

The Eagles beat Tadworth 3-1 with 2 goals from Jamie Bloomfield and one from Jago Roberts. The result sets the Eagles up very well in the League now with important games against Woodmansterne and Walton the target games for the rest of the season.

Albury Griffins 8 – 0 Tadworth Tigers

The Griffins thrashed Tadworth 8-0 in a comprehensive consolidation of their position at the top of the league. A hat-trick from Peter Doherty, 2 a piece from Bruce and Rhys, and a super goal from Tom Schoen really reinforce how this team is going from strength to strength.

Albury Lions 1 - 2 Mogador

The Lions were very unfortunate going down at the last, 2-1, to Mogador. The Lions at least deserved a point and on another day I think would have secured the victory. There were some super performances, especially from Billy who justly deserves his inclusion in the Griffins squad for this week’s game.

Albury Eagles 1 - 0 Holmbury B

A fierce drive by William Potts from the edge of the area with just four minutes to go was enough to decide a close encounter and secure Albury’s first league points of the season.
With a much-changed team from that which capitulated 7-1 a week before this was a much-improved display in all departments. A defence well marshalled by Owen Bracey stood firm against some early threatening Holmbury attacks while William Potts worked tirelessly creating a chance for Fred Sanders and firing over himself towards the end of the first half.
Chances came and went at both ends in the second half as both sides pressed. Potts was the main threat going close on three occasions while Bracey cleared off the line at the other end.
Just as it seemed a draw would be the most likely outcome up stepped Potts to secure the win for a very grateful Albury side.

Brockham Red 3 - 3 Albury Lions

The Lions got a hard fought 3-3 draw away at Brockham.

With only 10 mins to go the team was 3-1 down and showed real spirit and determination in fighting back for the draw.

It was an excellent team performance with everyone contributing. Picking out some individuals, there was some sterling defending from David and Max, some really tough tackling in midfield from Billy and great contributions going forward from Harry and Thomas.

Mogador 1-3 Albury Griffins

Our hardest match this season. Mogador had some exceptionally skilful players, which we managed to contain by some excellent defence by the whole team. We had some luck with our goals, but on all occasions the luck came from our own pressure of their goal. First was a corner from Jamie which resulted in a goal mouth scramble, and Josh managed to do enough for the ball to go in. The second was another corner from Jamie which the goalie knocked in. Mogador then came back with an excellent goal later in the first half, which lead to an extremely tense period of the match. Rhys took over the goalkeeping duties for a quarter at the beginning of the second half, and did not let in a goal. Finally we sealed the match near the end with a great cross from Michael, which came off the goalie for our third.

The final score was 3-1 to the Griffins. A win built on great teamwork and effort. On this occasion the whole team were in contention for man of the match. It was a difficult decision, but in the end it went to Charlie who never drifted out of position, and again worked superbly with Nick and Howard/Rhys to make our defence very difficult to break.

Well done again.

Albury Eagles 0-5 Brockham A

Albury Griffins 4-1 Brockham B

Great free passing game with good defence and attack. It even incorporated some techniques taught in training 30 minutes earlier! Well done Sam and Archie for scoring the goals. Great defence in Joe, Nicholas and Luca, and good running by Cameron, Ross, James and William. Goalies had little to do. Well done guys. Sam 3 goals, Archie 1.
