East Grinstead 1 - 4 Albury Eagles
We’re off the mark with our first win of the season. (I was getting worried because ‘The Special One’ has gone this week and I thought I may be following him!). This week players returned. Dan Kelly up front and our Goalkeeper, Ben Walter making his debut. With still Ben Smith to start in the side and maybe another boy signing, things are starting to look a whole lot rosier. This week we were without Harvey Owen but coped well. Albury took a 2-0 lead through 2 goals from Dan Kelly. East Grinstead pulled one back just before half time to make it 2-1. Into the second half and Dan Kelly was fouled inside the penalty box .He smashed home the resulting spot kick for 3-1. Then after a rally from East Grinstead, Albury rounded things off with a fourth goal for Dan Kelly making the final score 4-1 to Albury. Ben Walter made some fine telling saves throughout the match and he showed what an asset he is going to be to the team. Man of the Match went to Dan Kelly for his great way he lead the line up front.

Chesworth Rovers 6 – 1 Albury Eagles
A tough assignment for the u13s, with Chesworth fielding some strong players and always quick to the ball. The home team scored steadily through the first half to lead 3-0 at the break. Ollie Harris almost replied with a fine effort, which hit the right hand post and then ran along the line.
Chesworth continued scoring during the second half, eventually doubling their lead, although Albury defended valiantly at times, Tom Broughton (MoM) and James Hern particularly effective at making clearances. Jack Gill made some incisive runs from right back, setting up some good attacking options, Ollie Harris ever busy in midfield and Harry Good having two goals ruled out for offside, but Chesworth always had control of the game. Late on, Albury won a free kick 25 yards out on the right flank, which Ollie Harris curled in beautifully for a consolation goal.

Albury Eagles 6 – 1 Billingshurst
After going a goal down early in the first half, the Albury Eagles under 12s turned this match around to complete their third win in three games. David Hearns raced down the left and presented a teasing cross onto the foot of the onrushing Phil Smith to score Albury's equaliser. Then a hand-ball in the area, gave Tom Cantoni the chance to put the Eagles ahead with a penalty, which he coolly slotted into the net .Christopher Brooks added another just before the break. In the 10th minute of the second half, Harvey Marshall picked up a loose ball in midfield , skipped around a couple of challenges and let fly. His shot arrowed into the top of the Billingshurst net with the keeper left helpless. Christopher Brooks added another to his growing account of goals, and with the game now won, it was a matter of whether Albury would have enough energy to add to their lead and enough concentration to stop Billingshurst grabbing some consolation. A few minutes from time Tom Cantoni controlled a ball in the area, evaded his marker and stroked in his second goal of the game, his efforts throughout the match also earned him the man of the match award. Albury Eagles 7 – 1 Royal United
The Eagles first home match of the season saw a convincing performance with a solid midfield and defensive display providing the foundation for the Eagles pacey striking duo of Harry Ford and Oli Stephens to both notch hat tricks. Ryan Lintott again played well in a new midfield role with captain George Mackenzie sweeping behind a reorganised defence in which player of the week Tom Cain in his first appearance at left back played what the management considered was his best ever Eagles game. Generally much more solid with good performances from Matt Foster, Joe Mapp and Sammy Lewis and a glimpse of Fraser Millis' passing ability. Harry Ford was unplayable in the first half scoring three and making the fourth for Ryan Lintott. In the second half with Royal United preoccupied with Harry Ford, Oli Stephens moved into the spaces to notch an almost effortless three goals including his second penalty of the season after he was brought down on the edge of the box.

Holmbury 2 – 5 Albury Eagles
Holmbury 1-2 Albury Griffins
Goalscorers were Josh Van der Meulen, Harry Poil, Tom Schoen, Tom Sayers, Bruce Perry and 2 from Jamie Reed.
I genuinely thought all the boys played extremely well and it has given Eddie and me some real selection problems ahead of the season openers on Saturday.
