Hi there.

Registration and First Training was held on the Heath on Saturday 1st Sept., and it looks as though this will be our busiest season to date.

We have big pitch sides at u11, u12, u13 and u14, then two sides at u10, three sides at u9, three sides at u8, perhaps two sides at u7 and one at u6. Add a gir’ls side getting going this year, and it adds up to some 16 teams.

The major problem this poses is how best to accommodate all the training and match play with our surface resources – and we think, hopefully, this will be adequately met by additional outside facilities at Wonersh, Bramley, Alfold and (to be confirmed) Peaslake.

I will try and give every squad an even attendance at Albury, but we must all be prepared to be flexible for training (venue and timings) and for matches.

I will attempt to issue a weekly website bulletin on Mon /Tues featuring match reports and also detailing everyone’s whereabouts for the forthcoming weekend, but I do need prior input from coaches confirming their activities.

For Saturday 8th September:

U14s play away at Broadbridge Heath.

U13s play away at Billingshust

U12s play away at Broadbridge Heath

u11s play at home (Albury Heath)  to Dorkinians Kick off 9.30am

U10s train at 9am on Albury Heath – Sandy Lane pitch

U9s play friendlies Away at Chilworth Rangers

U8s train at 9am on Albury Heath – New Road pitch

U7s train at 10.30am on Albury Heath – New Road pitch

U6s train at 10.30am on Albury Heath – Pavilion pitch.

As a reminder to labeling of Albury pitches:

Pavilion pitch is nearest pavilion!

New Road pitch is nearest New Road, furthest from or opposite Pavilion pitch.

Sandy Lane pitch is the first pitch you pass on your left as you drive on to the Heath on Sandy Lane.

For teams in the Tadworth League, games will start (I think) on Sat 22 Sept, possibly 29th Sept.

There a lot more games than last season, as each division has increased in number.

A big thank you to Dominic Gill, Neil Marshall, John Duff and John Caley who have masterminded the erection of the new goals, and identifying the main pitch markings  on the Heath.

I think you will agree the new goals do look very impressive, and we look forward to scoring plenty of goals into them this season.

New U6 Coach

We need a new U6 manager.

If you know of anybody who might suit this role, please can you pass their details on to me, thanks.

In the short interim period, I would be very grateful if Murray Farrant and the U7 department can field the new intake of U6s.

Chilworth Rangers

A new club has started up at Chilworth, and we can look forward to playing local derbies with them in the Tadworth League. Indeed, there are friendlies at U9 being played this Saturday.

Vacancy of ‘Chairman’; Election of Officers

All Eagles members are hereby invited to attend a special election meeting on Mon 17th Sept at 7.30, at the Albury Cricket Pavilion to vote concerning the ‘Election of Officers’ onto the sub-committee of Albury Cricket and Football Club, which is Albury Eagles FC Committee. After five years of excellent service, Sage Henson has now stepped down as Chair, so we need to elect a replacement.

Sage has been our Chair since the inception of Albury Eagles in January 2002, and on behalf of all the club, I would like to offer our thanks and appreciation for all his good deeds in that time.

Also, constitutionally, to confirm the appointments of Sarah Savage (Assistant Secretary), Nick Moldon (Kit Supremo) and John Caley (Grounds and Equipment)

A committee meeting will follow this meeting at 8pm.

Other officers standing for re-election are Tony Hern (Secretary), Lynne Smith (Treasurer), John Duff (Welfare Officer).

Trophies

The consignment delayed from Fun Day finally arrived late last week(!) – and are now in the safe care of each age manager.
