U13s AlburyEagles 5-3 Heron Olympic A good result today. After missing a hat-full of chances, Albury went in at half-time with a 3-1 lead. A hat-trick by Dan Kelly. The second half was more of the same. Dan Kelly picked up his 4th goal and Albury's 4th to make it 4-1. Heron Olympic pulled another goal back to make it 4-2. Albury scored again as James Ellenger fired a shot from the edge of the box to make it 5-2. Heron Olympic scored again to make it 5-3, this was after they missed a penalty. But really Albury should have won more comfortably than they did. Man of the Match was Dan Kelly for the way he lead the line in attack. John Caley U12s 17.03.07 Storrington 6-0 Albury Eagles
U11s 17.03.07 HorshamCrusaders 2-7 Albury Albury Eagles under 11s carried on their good run of form with an away win at Horsham. Nathanael Farrant put the Eagles in front after only a minute of play, which then opened the floodgates to a scoreline of 6-0 by half-time. Constant attacking by Albury led to Horsham putting two goals into their own net and a Philip Smith long range shot found the net to pile on the pressure. Two further strikes from Nathanael Farrant completed his hat-trick before the interval. A reorganised Horsham team pulled back two goals after the break, but Albury steadied themselves and forward Christopher Brooks sealed the victory with his goal. A solo run by Colby Silver could have added another goal for the team but after winning the ball deep in his own half and running the entire length of the field, Colby saw his shot narrowly go beyond the post. U9s 17.03.07 Walton Wasps 2-1 Albury Eagles
U9s 17.03.07 WaltonWarriors1- 1 AlburyEagles After five minutes of this game, it looked as if a 5-5 draw would be the most likely result. Both sides had torn into each other, scored a goal apiece and carved out several chances. As so often this season, Albury conceded an early goal but bounced back in style. In one of the game’s rare flowing moves on a bumpy, sloping pitch fit only for rugby, William Potts latched onto Pearce McCarron’s through pass to finish in style. Chances continued to come for both sides in a frantic first half with Elliott Cozens’ fierce drive just inches wide and McCarron forcing the Walton keeper into a fingertip save. Kicking down the slope in the second half, Walton took control but troubled keeper Alex Thrower just once with a fierce free kick from 20 yards. Sadly, the pitch proved to be the winner after the game had promised so much. Mark Thrower

U13s Horsham League Plate Semi 10.03.07 AlburyEagles 1-6 Maidenbower Thanks to everyone for their efforts today. This was a hard fought match. The boys really gave a good account of themselves against the top side in Division ‘A’. It was uphill from the start as we were 2-0 down inside 3 minutes. Losing 3-0 at halftime the boys dug in and really had a go. Dan Kelly pulled a goal back to make it 3-1. But Maidenbower scored another 3 to make it 6-1.But there was no disgrace as the boys kept going right to the end and the score may have been closer if we had taken our chances. We now must concentrate on the league and making sure we get promoted. John Caley
U11s Heron Way Cup Semi Final 10.03.07 Hurstpierpoint 2-8 Albury Eagles 'Possibly the team's best performance to date' were the words of a jubilant under 11's Albury Eagles team manager, John Duff. Five goals from an outstanding Christopher Brooks and a skilful hat-trick from Nathanael Farrant led the Eagles into the final of the Heron Way cup. Albury's performance was witnessed by a dedicated following of parents, family and friends who were rewarded for their round trip of over eighty miles with an impressive display by every member of the side. Making light of the heavy and in some places atrocious pitch conditions, the Eagles took the lead after 15 minutes with a Christopher Brooks solo goal. Hurstpierpoint Colts leveled the score from the penalty spot and then took the lead with a second soon after. Albury didn't let their heads drop, and with keeper Laurie Owen dealing with the ariel attack of Hurstpierpoint's well taken corners, Albury battled back to not only level the score by half-time but to also take the lead through two smashing goals from Nathaneal Farrant, both the product of good interlinking play by Harvey Marshall and Tom Cantoni. The second half saw the Abury Eagles take total control over this Heron Way cup semi-final, and with the introduction of substitutes George Blackbee and Jack Childerstone, wave after wave of quick, attacking football, resulted in four more goals being added to the score sheet. Christopher Brooks' fine finishing taking his goal tally for the day to five ( an expensive day for Christopher's dad ! ) . The last goal of the day saw Nathanael Farrant rounding the Hurstpierpoint keeper on his right and from an impossible angle chipping the ball into the top left hand side of the goal. Congratulations to all the boys in the Eagles under 11 squad, to get to the cup final in their first season playing as an 11 a-side team is truly a fine and fantastic achievement, and one they should be very proud of. Neil Marshall
U10s 10.03.07 N.Holmwood 1 -1 Eagles Oli Stevens
N. Holmwood 0 - 8 Griffins Harry Ford (5), Tom Cain (2), Sam Clarke
U9s 10.03.07 AlburyEagles 4-2 BrockhamBlue Perhaps it was the spring sunshine that woke them but Eagles turned in a vibrant performance in their final home match of the season, the highlight of which was a superb hat-trick from Elliott Cozens. Eagles quickly pushed Brockham onto the defensive and after just two minutes John MacCoughlan put them ahead with a left-foot shot. Brockham came back strongly and forced four corners but the defence held firm and soon Eagles pressed forward again with John MacCoughlan having a shot cleared off the line and Pearce McCarron having a fierce drive well saved. A poor Brockham clearance allowed Elliott Cozeens to drive home Eagles’ second. Right on half time he grabbed his second, meeting an excellent corner with a header into the bottom corner. The second half started in the same way with Eagles pressing forward. Breaking quickly from defence, Elliott Cozens raced through and shot home from the edge of the area to complete his hat-trick. Brockham pulled a goal back almost immediately and began to put Eagles under pressure. Poor defending allowed a second consolation goal with a couple of minutes to go. By the end Eagles were grateful for the final whistle. Mark Thrower
U9s 10.03.07 Albury Griffins 2-0 Brockham W
U8s 10.03.07 AlburyEagles 2-1 BrockhamBlue The Eagles won 2-1 vs Brockham with goals from Michael Upfold and Jago Roberts. Man of the match though went to skipper, Alfie Minto, for his wonderful defence in the second half. Adam Chamberlain
U8s 10.03.07 AlburyGriffns 4-0 BrockhamRed The Griffins kicked off their penultimate league game of the season at home to Brockham Red knowing that they needed to win to keep their title dream alive.
The opening minutes saw Brockham go close a couple of times with David Hill doing good work in goal and the defensive pairing of Chris Rogers and Nick Esselen working hard to restrict shooting chances. It looked as though the sides might go to the break goal-less until Josh Vandermeulen latched on a loose ball in the Brockham box on 15 minutes to edge the Griffins ahead. The early minutes of the second half saw Brockham pressing again although Griffins were more settled after two more goals by Josh V and Ethan Darnell. With five minutes to go Griffins were able to use their substitutes to bring on fresh legs including Will Melhuish, returning to the fray after a nosebleed, who vented his frustration by lashing in Griffins fourth and final goal. So another good win for the Griffins and plenty to look forward to for the final game in a couple of weeks. Everybody played really well and there were plenty of contenders for Man of the Match, including Captain Tom Schoen for a rousing pre-match talk and leading by example on the field. It was just edged though by Chris Rogers with a right-back performance to rival Gary Neville Simon Darnell

U13s 03.03.07 Albury Eagles 3-3 HalsfordLions Another feisty affair on the Heath today. Albury losing 2-0 after 20 minutes missed a hatful of chances before leveling before halftime with goals from George Stephens and Chris Caley. The Halsford forwards were fast and caused our defence no end of problems. But in the second half a load more chances were missed by Albury before a superbly struck shot by Dan Kelly found the net to make it 3-2. But with five minutes to go Halsford had a corner. It was only half cleared to a player on the edge of the penalty area who hit a first time shot straight into the middle of the goal to make it 3-3. With 3 league games left we still need 8 points to be guaranteed promotion.(depending on Forest Rows result today). So we need to be focussed now. John Caley U12s 03.03.07 Old Dorkinians 4-0 Albury
U10s 03.03.07 Two games - results not yet in!
U9s 03.03.07 Albury Eagles 0-2 Holmbury Red Winter hibernation seemed to have set in for Albury as they turned in a lack-lustre performance against a well-motivated and organised Holmbury side. Conceding an early goal has been a season-long weakness and it surfaced again as Holmbury broke through a dozy defence and took the lead after just three minutes. This roused Eagles from their slumber but Holmbury restricted them to long-range efforts from John MacCoughlan and Ned Hussey. The second half followed the same pattern with Holmbury keeping Eagles at bay comfortably despite constant harassment on the left flank from John MacCoughlan. Holmbury’s control on the game was confirmed when a long-range shot slipped through the grasp of ‘keeper Alex Thrower. It was that kind of day. Eagles Man of the Match: John MacCoughlan

U9s 24.02.07 Albury Griffins 1-1 Holmbury On a damp pitch at home, Griffins took on top of the table Holmbury. Struggling to find their shape in the first half, it was no surprise when Holmbury took the lead from close range. Albury kept themselves in the game in the first half despite pressure from Holmbury largely down to excellent goalkeeping and wayward shooting by Holmbury. The second half started in the same vein with Albury getting possession more readily. This possession was soon reflected in the score when Charlie scored from close range. Albury then hit the post following a corner and it looked like the tide had turned. The rest of the half was an end to end affair with both sides going close but neither able to take the ultimate prize. Sean O'Hanlon
