Albury Eagles 4-1 Copthorne
The match Saturday was a great confidence booster for the lads. The first half was an evenly fought contest with Albury having most of the possession, this was rewarded with Harry G opening the scoring. Copthorne came close when they hit the bar from a free kick, but the first half ended with Albury leading.
In the second half, Albury started to apply more pressure, but unfortunately Copthorne equalised after an unlucky OG. The team started to pass more and were even calling for the ball. We eventually won 4 - 1 with Harry G scoring all four with the 3rd being something particularly special.

Albury Eagles 3-2 Henfield
Another good result yesterday although the performance wasn’t that brilliant. Albury took an early lead through a Henfield own goal, a cross from Harvey Owen was deflected past the goalkeeper into the net. Then, after a defensive mix up, Henfield got an equaliser. 1-1 at halftime. In the second half, substitutions were made and the game changed. Albury took a 3-1 lead through 2 goals from substitute Chris Caley. One of these goals was a stunning shot from the edge of the box. Henfield scored not long from the end to make it 3-2, but Albury hung on for the win.                 John Caley

Albury Eagles 6-3 Hurstpierpoint
Albury earned their first 3 points of the season with an excellent performance against Hurstpierpoint Colts. The first half started well with Oliver Harris scoring after some good work on the left with Ben H. Then there was a fantastic 5 minute hat-trick from Harry which left the score 4 -1 at half time.
Making some changes at half time took a while for the boys to get use to, the second half was a closer fought battle with the Colts producing a stunning solo goal. Henry and Dan added 2 more leaving Albury 6 - 3 victors.
MOM this week was Ben Turner for a rock solid performance in defence, as well as bringing the ball forward.                   Mark Hurman

Greenway 3 – 6 Albury Eagles
A fine away win against top of the table and previously unbeaten Greenway saw Albury move to joint top. Although Eagles started slowly and had the better of the opening 15 minutes, it was Greenway who scored the first goal on a quick break. Albury came back strongly and Chris Brookes and Nathaneal Farrant put them 2-1 ahead with Phillip Smith making it 3-1 just before half time. Greenway came back well after the break but found a strong Albury defence against them. Albury soon added two more goals from Tom Cantoni and Chris Brookes and went close through Harvey Marshall. Greenway never gave up and came back to 5-3. Albury then had 3 good chances the best of which was a powerful shot from Jack Childerstone which brought a fine save from the Greenway keeper. Nathaneal Farrant made it 6-3 after a powerful run set up by David Hearns who had another solid match. All in all a very good team perfomance against a good Greenway team.                John Duff

TadwrthLions  7-2 AlburyEagles
A second-half four-goal blitz consigned Albury Eagles to defeat in their first league match of the season.
Eagles never recovered from conceding a goal in the first ten seconds and found themselves two behind after 15 minutes. John McCoughlin pulled one back for the Eagles but an own goal restored Tadworth’s two-goal cushion. On the stroke of half time John McCoughlin finished off some neat approach work to keep Eagles in touch.
Like the previous week against Brockham, Eagles lost their way in the second half when Tadworth took charge and added four more. William Potts did have a goal disallowed and had a shot cleared off the line but it was Tadworth who ended on top.

Cup weekend in the Horsham league and league action for many of our younger sides………

Albury 0-0 Broadbridge Heath
Broadbridge Heath won 2-0 on Penalties after extra time
I would just like to thank the boys for their efforts today. It was a hard fought match against a good Broadbridge Heath side from the division above our own. We really held our own today. There were some good performances all round the team today. After a goalless match where both teams had good chances of which the best was a shot from Dan Kelly who struck a shot which deflected off the bar to safety. In extra time Dan Kelly again had a shot well saved by the keeper who actually had a very good game. After extra time the game went to penalties where Broadbridge Heath ran out 2-0 winners after Albury missed their first 3 penalties.

Chesworth Rovers 3-2 Albury
On Saturday we played a team from our old division C in the Cup. We started slowly with Chesworth having a lot of pressure. Unfortunately, Robbie sliced a clearance from a corner to give Chesworth the lead, then to increase our bad luck we conceded a penalty giving the home side a 2 - 0 lead at half time. In the second half, Albury played much better. Goals from Harry and Daniel seemed to be heading us towards extra time. Then Chesworth broke and scored after a great save from Will Walker.
MOM this week for a superb defensive performance was James Hern.                Mark Hurman

Albury Eagles 6-1 Billingshurst
Back to back wins for the Albury Eagles under 11 team have taken them to the top of the Horsham and District league as well as through to the next round of the Heron Way cup. Early goals from Nathaneal Farrant, Christopher Brooks and David Hearns made sure that the Eagles took their place in the next round. A good all round performance by the team ensured victory with added goals from George Stevens, Jjack Childerstone and Harvey Marshall, the last goal being a long range strike from outside the box curling into the right hand side of the net. A good strong performance from all the boys, who have started to gel and create some excellent football that is a joy to watch.

AlburyEagles 1- 3 BrockhamRed
Déjà vu at the Heath as sleepy Albury Eagles were punished for a slow start for the second week running.
A goal down inside the first minute, Eagles fought their way back to equalize through John McCoughlin’s third goal of the season. Brockham restored their lead five minutes later after a goalmouth scramble and held on comfortably till half time.
Within a minute of the restart Albury were once again caught cold as a long-range effort increased Brockham’s lead. Never looking likely to surrender their lead, Brockham held firm to the final whistle.

PITCH CARE
On Saturday mornings, it would be a great help if assembled parents could help to ensure that the pitch surface is safe for play by flattening/filling any bunny holes that occur overnight. Please put a garden fork in the boot of the car.

SAMBA GOALS
We now have ten portable plastic 12ft x 6ft ‘Samba’ goals, but we need to ensure that they are in good working order.
Can those that use them please
report back to me with any
requirements for replacement
struts, goal nets, clips etc.
Thanks.

Finally a reminder that STRIKER Half Term course is operating again on Albury Heath
23-25 October. Further details from the website
