Albury Eagles World Cup Fun Day Saturday 17th June Noon-4pm Albury Heath
Latest match reporting takes in a few games played before Xmas, followed by an U11 game last Saturday.
U10s 09.12.05 Holmbury 1 –3 Albury Eagles A hard and frosty pitch made it difficult for both sides to take control of the game, but with a first half goal from Tom Cantoni and second half goals from Nathanael Farrant and George Stevens , Eagles have managed to reach the half way stage of the league unbeaten .The highlights of the match were a fantastic header from David Hearns that rocked the crossbar and some very strong tackling from Colby Silver. The Eagles are deservedly top of the league and have really gelled together as a team this season. Murray Farrant
U10s 10.12.05 AlburyGriffins 4-0 WaltonWarriors The Griffins put in a good performance against a spirited Walton Warriors team. For the third match on the trot the Griffins defence of Laurie Owen , Alex Dangerfield and George Duff kept a clean sheet with a strong display. Harvey Marshall opened the scoring with a well taken penalty after his fine run was checked with a blatant foul. Chris Brooks made it 2-0 just before half time and added a third 5 minutes into the second half. Phillip Smith added a fourth after some nice inter play with Chris Brooks and Harvey Marshall. Chris came close to his Hat trick on 3 occasions but the Walton keeper had a fine game. John Duff
U11s 10.12.05 Albury Eagles 2-3 Balcombe No manager’s report, although Mark is still in shock having led this game 2-0. Ed.
U13s 17.12.05 Albury Eagles 0-10 Reigate Priory The league visit of Reigate was always viewed as a damage limitation exercise, they having won 12-0 the previous weekend. Keeping the league leaders to just 10 was a fair performance then, from Eagles. Well, perhaps not, but whilst our boys did put some good passing moves together, Reigate were supremely slick at most things, playing the offside rule to near perfection. Best moment was Will Hern’s penalty save – from which Reigate knocked in the rebound, and MoM to Harry Thomas for his best game to date in an Eagles jersey. Tony Hern.
CHRISTMAS PARTY Thanks to all those who helped in making the Eagles Christmas Party such a roaring success. Given the numbers in the club now – 160 signed on – the party came in two waves, with Santa making two appearances, quite amazing for such a busy chap at this time of year. Thanks also to the DJs - Major Tom Westcott and Zac Smith.
U11s 10.01.06 BrockhamWhites 0-2 AlburyEagles Waking to a white out on Saturday it was a surprise to see the match was still on. We played at Brockham on a small pitch with equally small goals, we were generally getting crowded out and were unable to play any flowing football that we are used to. Albury had the upper hand and most of the possession but at half time it was even at 0 - 0. In the second half we managed to break down the left and right more with Dan and Oliver supplying some good crosses. The pressure eventually paid off with a goal from Harry, Oliver doubling the lead with a long range effort. This week James Hern was MoM with a typically solid performance in defence. Mark Hurman
