Upper Beeding 0-4 Albury Eagles
Horsham Cup Round One.
The Eagles took control of the game from the beginning. We elected to play uphill in the first half knowing that with tired legs in the second half a downhill advantage would be useful. In the end it didn't matter due to 3 fine first half goals where almost every shot was on target. The passing play from the forwards was excellent, we sliced through their defence time after time. In the end their players were hoofing the ball anywhere in sheer panic. This was the Eagles first clean sheet of the year, and praise must go to the solid defence team led by Hugh who was awarded man of the match. In the end it was a close call between Hugh and Jack B who scored a super hat trick. But all the players did well in what was a superb team effort.

Roffey Robins Utd 8-1AlburyEagles
Horsham Cup Round One.
Thanks again to everyone for their efforts this Saturday. The 8-1 scoreline seems like the two teams were miles apart .I’ve told the boys not to be too disheartened. The teams were closer than the scoreline suggests. Yet again Dan Kingshott had to play in goal in the absence of our regular keeper Alex Henson. Harvey Owen our top goalscorer had pulled a leg muscle playing rugby the previous day and played most of the match at almost walking pace. He really put effort in for the team, but wasn’t very mobile. Roffey Robins Utd were the top team in Division A of the U12s league. They were very well organised. They took a 2 goal lead after about 15 minutes of play. Then the Roffey centre back who was a very tall lad (a foot taller than Chris Caley!!!!) had a clash of heads with Harvey Owen. He was dazed and was taken off with a large lump above his eye. Albury then scored to make it 2-1. Albury played the ball out from the defence, then a through ball from midfield sent Chris Caley clear of the defence to coolly slot home his 3rd goal of the season past a stranded keeper. With the Roffey defender returned to the team, Roffey took a 4-1 lead at half time. Albury decided to push forward in the 2nd half as they had nothing to lose. Roffey punished Albury again and again and proved why they were top of Division A. They showed what a good counter-attacking team they were and finished up 8-1 winners. Man of the match for Albury was Adam Lawson who played well in midfield biting into the tackles and really trying to spur Albury on. John Caley

Albury Eagles 1 – 10 Royal Utd
We played Royal Utd from Div A in a friendly on Saturday on the Heath. This was a friendly just to let those that haven’t had lots of play have a game. Dan Kingshott and a host of regulars were missing. Everybody gave their best but we lost 10-1. Our goal came from a Chris Caley thunderbolt from the edge of the box. I just felt that Royal Utd were a team we would have given a really good match if we had our first 11 playing. But it stopped our boys from getting carried away and there were some good learning points for us. John Caley

Albury Eagles 1-4 BalcombeRaiders
Horsham Cup Qualifying Round.
Saturday saw the visit of Balcombe in the cup, Unfortunate we had a slow start in the first half and Balcombe had the majority of play and took a deserved 4 - 0 lead. In the second half we performed a lot better and had several chances, one of which Harry Good managed to convert. This weeks MOM was William Walker who pull off some great saves. This now allows Albury U 11's to concentrate on the league!!! Mark Hurman

Albury Griffins 0 - 2 St Annes Blues The Griffins opened their league campaign against a strong St Annes Blues team. After a promising opening during which Harvey Marshall , Chris Brookes and Phillip Smith went close, St Annes came back strongly and forced some good saves from keeper Laurie Owen. It was 0-0 at half time but St Annes then scored 2 quick goals which sealed their victory.
Albury Eagles 3 – 0 StAnnes Yellow
The Eagles started their campaign against St Annes Yellows and rarely looked in trouble. David Hearns opened the scoring and further goals were added after half time by Nathanael Farrant and George Stevens. The Eagles had further chances from George Blackbee and Bayley Nicholson only to find the St Annes keeper in fine form. John Duff

Tadworth Tigers 1-7 Albury Eagles
A great performance with 3 goals from Tom Cantoni, 2 from Jack Childerstone, 1 from David Hearns and 1 from Nathanael Farrant. Eagles were always in control and came close on other occasions when Jamie Etheridge hit the post and Nathanael Farrant skimmed the crossbar from long range. A good all round team effort with good passing and movement, stong defending and entertaining football that has lead to a good start to the season with two wins from two and a total of 10 goals. Albury Eagles 3-0 HolmburyWolves (friendly)
Despite numerous shots towards goal, primarily from Oliver Stephens and Will Onslow, and the whole team dominating the play in the first half, frustratingly no goals were scored.
Sam Parsons and Hugh Ferry joined the second half team and all motivated by the Coach’s half time team talk, we quickly saw three goals. The first scored directly from the corner kick by Will, then Fraser Millis controlling well another hard earned corner to put a bouncing ball past the keeper. Finally Sam Parsons passed an excellent ball forward to the left hand side of the box, cleanly scored by Joe Mapp.
Oli Turner in goal controlled his defence of Alex Connolly, Sammy Lewis and Hugh who were tested by the occasional quick break by the Holmbury Wolves against the run of play.
Player of the week was Will Onslow. A good friendly match ahead of next week’s league game against Walton. Keep practicing shots towards goal from everywhere! Andrew Lewis

BrockhamWhite 4-2 AlburyGriffins
(friendly)
As this match was a friendly, it gave us the opportunity to try different formations. The story was similar to last weeks league game against Milford with the Griffins dominating the first half and scoring first following one of a number of good moves which culminated in a good finish from Guy Sanders. Unfortunately we conceded a scrappy goal before half time to finish the half at 1-1.
Again in the second half we had plenty of possession but seemed to lose our concentration defensively and found ourselves 3-1 down before Adam Clarke lobbed the Brockham keeper from outside the box. At 3-2 down we were still creating chances at the Brockham end but unfortunately they were doing the same at our end and they sealed the match at 4-2 with a couple of minutes left.
Player of the week went to Ralph Harvey-Jefferson for a brave performance in goal.

Albury Eagles 4 Walton Warriors 0
The Eagles second league match of the season was the much anticipated game against Walton Warriors. The Eagles had a reduced squad and were without captain Alex Connolly, Sammy Lewis and keeper Oli Turner. Will Onslow stepped up to captain the side, Ryan Lintott came into the defence and Oliver Stephens reverted to playing in goal.
The Eagles took an early hold of the game with the midfield three of Will Onslow, Harry Ford and Sam Parsons taking no prisoners and winning every 50/50 ball. The Eagles went close with a Will Onslow free kick that whistled just over the bar and were causing havoc in the Warriors defence from every corner. Having established control, Tristan Moses and Joe Mapp the Eagles sharpshooters came on to grab a goal each before half time, both set up with passes from Fraser Millis whose pace and unselfish runs were a constant menace to the Warriors defence.
The Warriors managed to get into the Eagles penalty box just once in the first half from open play and went close when their captain missed from close range. Although they managed a couple of corners, Oliver Stephens did not have to make a save. The Warriors were giving away possession to a well organised and competitive midfield and when they did break out Ryan Lintott and Hugh Ferris were able to mop up the loose ball.
The second half was a similar story with goals from a deflected Tristan Moses shot and a long range effort from Sam Parsons that crept under the Warriors keeper before hitting the post and rolling over the line.
Lots of positives for the Eagles, with a superb midfield performance from captain for the day Will Onslow ably supported with excellent tackling from Sam Parsons and running from Harry Ford who was gaining confidence as he recovered from his troubling leg injury. Ryan Lintott was rarely troubled in defence and Hugh Ferris played his best game of the season so far as he adapted well to the Eagles new formation. Tristan Moses and Joe Mapp continued their "goal a game" records and player of the week Fraser Millis gave an excellent display of power play as the lone centre forward.
