Heron Olympic 3-3 Albury Eagles
Heron scored two goals early on in this encounter, and adding a third just after the break seemed to write the game off for Eagles.
Plenty of Albury possession and attacking flair had failed to produce goals until we slipped into overdrive on 55 minutes and coolly rifled three in five minutes!
Two typical strikes from Sam Kaye, with the equaliser nicely finished by Matt Cox, his first goal for the club.
Albury had chances to win the game too, including a free kick which sailed over the bar, but the lads were certainly pleased to come away with a point.
MoM Nick Cruse for some enterprising midfield play, with also strong performances from Sam Schoen, Bob Moorcroft and the scorers. Tony Hern

Forest Row 5-2 Albury Eagles
This was a game where we just didn’t get going until half-time. Fergus Laslett made his debut in goal in place of a missing Alex Henson. Fergus did really well considering he had never played in a league match before. Both teams were evenly matched but Albury did not wake up till half-time. Forest Row lead 3-1 at half-time. Chris Caley scoring from a cross cum shot on the stroke of half-time to keep Albury's faint hopes alive. The second half was an improvement and Albury came into the game a lot more. But as Albury pushed forward trying to reduce the deficit they got caught with a sucker punch. Forest Row broke from their own half and as a Forest Row forward only had the goalkeeper to beat Tom Anderson tried to block him off and ended up deflecting the ball into his own net. Harvey Owen reduced the deficit by shooting and scoring from outside the penalty area. But Forest Row scored again to make the final score 5-2. John Caley

Horsham Sparrows 1-3 Albury
Only 11 boys arrived for this game, due to a lack of communication!
Dan Kingshott started in goal in place of the unavailable Alex Henson. Dan was very assured and confident in goal and made a couple of good saves. With a bit of luck Alex will only be unavailable for the November 5th League match and next week’s Horsham Cup match against Roffey Robins Utd. Then we should be back to normal. Albury started well against a Horsham Sparrows side whose only win this season was against the bottom side Horsham Tigers. The pace of Chris Caley and Harvey Owen caused no end of problems for the Horsham defence. Both worked well in the first half. Albury were rewarded with a 3 - 0 lead at halftime with all 3 goals being scored by Harvey Owen. The second half started slowly for Albury and Horsham took the game to Albury. We were second to every ball and Horsham slowly came back into the game. Horsham started to have a few shots and began to pile on pressure on the Albury goal. They were finally rewarded when one of their forwards broke through the Albury defence, was forced wide but still managed to fire across our goalkeeper and into the net. The game result might have been different if Horsham had scored another goal, but Albury held on for the three points. Man of the match was Keith Fagg for his tireless running in midfield.

Kirdford 1 – 6 Albury Eagles
We traveled to Kirdford with 9 players this week, and thankfully they only had 10!
The pitch looked even bigger than usual as we lined up for the kick off. We were a little shaky in the first 5 minutes and conceded an early goal, after that we settled down and managed to keep control of the ball. Harry Good started his first half hat- trick after a good tackle and through ball from Archie. At half time we had a 3 - 1 lead. In the second half we played with a lot more confidence, William made some good saves and we looked solid at the back with James Hern tiding up any attacks that did manage to get pass Ben, Jamie and Jack. Joe and Archie had chances to score and Henry hit the post. MOM this week goes to Harry after he added a second half hat trick to his first half one.
This was a great performance from every player Mark Hurman.

Milford Bullets 2 - 2 Albury Griffins
Our first League B match of the season was a very exciting game with the Griffins dominating the play in the first half and Adam Clark capping an excellent performance up front with a well worked goal to put us 1-0 up at half time. Milford made a couple of changes during the break and came back at us strongly at the start of the second half creating a couple of chances and grabbing a scrambled equaliser. Despite this, the Griffins were still playing good football and creating chances so we were confident that we could still win the game. This confidence was perhaps misplaced as Milford went 2-1 ahead from a corner with about 8 minutes remaining.
However, the Griffins redoubled their efforts and again started to dominate and create scoring chances. With only a couple of minutes left George Mackenzie turned the Milford centre half who then brought him down inside the penalty area. Griffin’s captain Matt Foster stepped forward and scored with a well struck penalty which the Milford goalkeeper did well to get a hand to.
Overall this was a very encouraging performance for our first game of the season and without exception all the players made a positive contribution to the game. Player of the Week was a very difficult decision but went to Samuel Clark for some very timely interventions in the Griffins defence.

Milford Arrows 3 – 5 Albury Eagles
The first match of the season, with a new squad, saw the Eagles concede two goals before fighting back. Tristan Moses (shortly after being brought on for an injured Harry Ford) scored in a busy penalty area after a well-taken corner by Will Onslow. The coach’s inspired decision to use Will for corners this season, saw the next goal in the top corner by Fraser Millis. Sam Parsons then started a good move in mid field passing to Tristan who had anticipated well passing to Fraser, having had his own shot on goal well saved, creating Fraser’s second goal. Half time saw the Eagles 3-2 up.
Regular adventurous shots on goal by Will & Tristan were rewarded by Tristan finding the bottom right hand corner of the goal. Oliver Stephens fought hard in mid field, regularly feeding balls forward, whilst Oli Turner in goal, Alex Connolly and Sammy Lewis at the back who had defended some quick breaks by Milford’s No9 then succumbed to one such attack. Another good pass by Oliver to Joe Mapp, then put the result beyond doubt, as the ball was put to the right of the Milford keeper.
Tristan earned Player of the Week and the Coach’s debrief reminded the whole team of would be goal scorers of the need to defend as a team as well demonstrated this week by Tristan.
