Endeavouring to keep you all up to date, several match reports to get through here, played last weekend, as the club continues to grow…….

U8s
Walton Warriors 2 Albury Eagles 3
Eagles U8 came out on top in a close and exciting encounter away to Walton Warriors. After leading 1-0 after a tight 1st half with a goal by Fraser Millis, Albury scored again early in the 2nd half (Matt Foster) to take a comfortable lead. Walton hit back with 2 quick goals to even things up and leave the match finely balanced. Albury defended stoutly throughout with man of the match Tom Cain, Sam Clark and Hugh Ferrey all making important tackles.
Albury always looked dangerous on the break and in the dying minutes Harry Ford slotted home a fine goal from a tight angle to win the game.

with Trevor Stephens now running a Griffins side, who played a first game
last Saturday -
Brockham 1 Albury Griffins 2
Albury dominated the first half and cruised to a 2- 0 lead at half time
with impressive goals from Sam Parsons & Adam Clarke. Brockham failed to get a single shot on goal during the first half but had clearly had a serious team talk at half time. Although more motivated they were
fortunate to get an early goal in the second half, but Albury were
resolute in defence and gradually regained control of the game with the
midfield & defence getting their tackles in to break up the Brockham
attacks. Albury were led by a storming performance from captain Alex
Connolly, well supported by Martin Doubtfire running the ball out
from midfield. Adam Clarke held the ball well up front and went close
with a spectacular shot that whistled past the post & Sam Parsons was
the victim of a number of outrageous tackles that were deserving of more
serious censure. By the end of the game Brockham had run out of steam
and Albury ran out comfortable winners. Trevor Stephens

U9s - friendly
Onslow 2 – 4 Albury
In a free flowing game Oliver Scott scored all four goals for Albury who went 1-0 up after 5 mins. Onslow equalized just before half time but Albury soon regained their lead stretching it to 3-1. Onslow fought back to 3-2 before Oliver Scott made it 4-2 with a well taken goal. There were some other fine peformances for Albury notably James Godfrey in defence, David Hearns in midfield and Laurie Owen who had yet another fine game in goal. John Duff

WaltonWarriors 3 – 2 AlburyEagles
We are still looking for our first points of the season having been narrowly beaten 3-2 today. Walton scored their winner in the last minute of a very entertaining game that could have gone either way. Both goals scored by Oliver Harris, his second coming direct from a corner. David Harris
TadworthTigers 0–4 AlburyGriffins
Albury Griffins tamed Tadworth Tigers with a well deserved 4 – 0 win. Two first half goals from Harry Good set up a second half in which Henry Schoen directed the ball past the Tadworth keeper. Finally a Beckham style free kick from Daniel Cannon sealed the victory. Every Griffin player worked hard with man of the match this week going to JoeSimpson.

Onslow Orcs 0 – 4 Albury Eagles
Thanks Everyone for a fantastic result on Saturday. A good 4-0 win against a side who play in the North Hampshire League. The team looked very well organised and what was good was that the boys took note of what I was telling them to do and executed everything perfectly. Albury took the lead in the first 10 minutes through a goal from Chris Caley who turned in the penalty area to fire a shot past the keeper. Just before half time Chris Caley doubled the lead by hitting a fierce shot from just inside the penalty area to make it 2-0.In between Albury had many chances including a shot that hit the post. At the other end of the field the defence were very organised and controlled the Onslow forwards very well. Dan Kingshott playing at sweeper had a good solid performance which allowed new signing Phil Earle to take the ball out from the back at every pportunity. Phil was very good and his distribution was great. The midfield worked well and new boy Sam Bunyan playing on right side midfield working well down the right with full-back Dom Higgett. In the second half Chris Caley got his hat-rick when he was put through from midfield and he sprinted onto the ball and coolly slotted it past the keeper.Harvey Owen made it 4-0 with another fierce shot from the edge of the penalty area to round off a good 4-0 victory. John Caley

U12s
Heron Olympic 4-2 Albury Eagles
Chiddingfold 3 – 0 Albury Eagles
Two away defeats over the past two Saturdays saw spirited performances from Albury, but still gaps at the back as we try to master 4-4-2.
In both games, we had enough of the play to come away with a point, but goals do tend to leak through in the second quarter of the game.
An excellent fightback at Heron (Horsham), saw new striker Sam Kaye grab two well placed goals to equalise, before Heron went on to win by two.
MoMs to Harry Thomas and Finlay Grogan. Tony Hern
