Latest reporting takes in the period Matches on 13th and 20th Nov.
Four games were played on Sat 13th Nov, with only one of our teams getting on the scoresheet. This was quite surprising as we had an Albury Heath derby and an u8 team which scored 10 goals the previous week both drawing blanks!! Well done, however, to the u11s who begin the reporting this week.
U11s Albury Eagles 5-0 Chiddingfold Just to say thanks to the kids for another sparkling performance today. The boys did really well. A welcome return for our Captain Dan Kingshott who marshalled our defence really well. Albury led at half-time 2-0 with goals from Chris Caley and Harvey Owen. It was more of the same in the second half when another 3 goals were added. The scorers were Jacob Drew-Bear, Dan Kingshot and Keith Fagg. It was a better performance with Jacob Drew-Bear getting man-of-the-match. John Caley
U10s Albury Griffins 0 - 0 Albury Eagles Well the big day had arrived and the Albury teams met at the heath. This was a close contest with neither side wanting to make the first mistake. As the Griffins were the home team on this occasion, they pushed forward looking for an early break!! The Eagles defended well and were closing the ball down quickly proving they were better than their present league position. Griffins Harry Good hit the post and Ben Hurman had a shot cleared off the line by James Hern after a frantic goal mouth scramble. The Eagles had several corners but were also unable to penetrate the Griffins defence. The second half was a similar affair and the game finished in a scoreless draw with the points being shared. Man of the match this week for the Griffins goes to James Connolly for some excellent tackling and controlled passing from defence. Mark Hurman U8s Brockham White 1-0 Albury Eagles Albury Griffins 0-4 Priory Panthers
Matches played on 20th Nov U12s Albury Eagles 1-7 Brockham B Another heavy home defeat for our u12s as they struggle to find any sort of form this season in what is turning out to be a very tough Horsham League. Even so, the squad of now 17 players relishes the challenge of each game, and although we see improvements each week, the opposition get better too! Three goals were leaked in the first ten minutes through central defence, with Sam Kaye pulling one back for Albury. Will H (keeper) then very bravely admitted contributing two own goals - one a rebound from a post, and the other a backheel (!) as we turned around at 1-5 down. Brockham’s first touch and running with the ball gave Albury constant problems as they added a further two goals during the second half. Notable performances today from Rob Moorcroft (MoM) for great defence at right and left back, Harry Thomas, Hugh Graves (sweeping second half) and Ross Beasley who got several attacks going and unluckily saw a shot rebound off the crossbar. Tony Hern
U11s Chiddingfold 0-2 Albury Eagles Just to say thanks to the boys for another good performance. We played this game without our recognised goalkeeper. Tim Parsons played very well as a stand-in, although he didn’t have much to do apart from make two saves all match. The defence played really well and gave the goalkeeper the protection he needed for most of the match. Albury took the lead when Chris Caley hit a spectacular shot from just inside the box to make it 1-0. Harvey Owen made it 2-0 when he side footed past the keeper from 6 six yards after a lovely build up and passing move which resulted in a low cross which Harvey converted. The defence held out well in the second half and Albury could have scored a few more but didn’t take their chances. Overall a very good team performance with man-of-the-match going to the whole team for a very good performance. John Caley
