Our season finished on Saturday 17th April, with the concluding round of Horsham League matches, whilst the final placings in the Tadworth League were also sorting themselves out.
It has been a really good season for the club, inspite of an atrocious winter of weather to play through.
Playing numbers have grown by 20% to something in the order of 230, with 17 distinct teams now operating.
League Champions this season were the U11 Eagles side, run by Mark Bloomfield, whilst Runners-Up in their respective leagues were the following sides:
U10 Eagles, U10 Griffins, U9 Eagles and U9 Lions.
Congratulations, and well done to all concerned!
Here are the team by team performances this season…
U15s
Mark Hurman’s side finished third in Horsham League Division C, played 14 games, won 9, drew 1, lost 4, goal difference +24, 28 points.
U14s
John Duffs side continued their excellent record of play in the A division of the Horsham League, finishing
5th of 8 teams, and they were also Cup Quarter Finalists.
League matches played 14, won 6, drew 3, lost 5, goal difference -1, 21 pts.
U13s
A tricky season for Trevor Stephen’s team, often short of players, and as a result, they were unable to fulfill some fixtures; this team were relegated from Division B of the Horsham League, winning two of seventeen games. We hope we can recruit some more players for next season.
U12s
With an insufficient number of players for the Horsham League programme, Mark Thrower’s squad engaged in a series of friendlies with local sides, although these games were often compromised by the prolonged wintry weather.
U11s
Eagles were crowned champions of Horsham league Division C, winning 15 of 16 league fixtures, and also getting to the Cup semis. Goal difference of +62, 48pts.
Meanwhile, the Griffins had a steadily improving season, finishing 5th of 9 sides; played 16, won 7, drew 3, lost 4 , goal difference -4, 24 pts.
U10s
Eagles were runners up to Brockham in an intense finish to the season, playing 15 league games, of which they won 13, drew 1 and lost 1. Goal difference was an impressive +72, and 40pts. Brockham also had 40pts, but had a better goals difference of 5.
Griffins played 18, won 13 drew 2 lost 3, goals +35, with 41 pts, and also runners up in their division.
The Lions had a fairly tough but improving season, finishing 9th of 10 sides.
U9s
The Eagles and Lions sides side were both runners up, stats were:
Eagles played 12 won 7 drew 3 lost 2 +38 goals 24 pts,
Griffins finished 5th of 5 sides, whilst the Lions played 11 won 8, drew 1, lost 2, goals +25, pts 25
In accordance with FA guidelines, we do not publish/publicise results from U8 and downwards.
However, I can report that each group is showing excellent development!!
Looking to next season, we expecting the following teams to be participating…..
U16 Eagles
U15 Eagles
U14 Eagles
U13 Eagles
U12 Eagles and U12 Griffins
U11 Eagles and U11 Griffins
U10 Eagles, U10 Griffins, U10 Lions and U10 Saxons
U9 Eagles, U9 Griffins and U9 Lions
U8 Eagles, U8 Griffins and U8 Lions
U7 Eagles and U7 Griffins
U6 Eagles reception squad.
21 sides altogether !
It will be the first time that we have entered a team at the U16 level, which is the final season of participation in the Horsham League before football becomes semi-adult !
We have ongoing discussions with how football may shape itself at Albury as we go through the successive age-groups beyond U16!
Also the first time that we will have entered a fourth team in any one age group – U10 Saxons.
There is now a tremendous groundswell of activity within our younger age-groups, some of these departments now fielding up to 40 players!
Excellent news for continued growth and hopefully, further future success.
The 2010-11 Season Application Form will be available shortly for download from our website.
Player Registration will take place at Fun Day on 20th June, further details to follow from your respective managers and coaches........
......and the great news is that we have held prices for the year ahead. The only change is that U7s now join the U8-U10 ages in the medium tariff bracket, as they now wear club kit.
Watch the website for further details of Fun Day.
