A very frustrating time since mid December for all our squads, with the weather in complete control!

No matches on 19th Dec, 2nd Jan, 9th Jan or 16th Jan due to snowy pitches and heavy frost.

Training areas have also been limited by frosted/waterlogged ground for most of the remaining time

There is still time to play the now revised schedule of fixtures, although some teams will have a game almost every week, with a number at half term, which is not ideal.

For our Horsham league sides, this may include playing double headers – ie. two games rolled into one, where two results are produced either side of the half time whistle -  evening games in April during the week, or in Easter holidays, and maybe some Sundays as well, if the league approve the idea.

Holmbury Westcott Wolves 1 – 3 Albury Griffins

A difficult game was expected away to a strong Holmbury ‘B’ team so it was very pleasing to go 1-0 up in the 1st minute when James Foulsham finished a strong run off by squeezing the ball in at the near post. The Griffins dominated the first half playing some excellent football throughout the team and creating numerous chances with the Holmbury keeper making some very good saves. In particular he denied Will Edwards, Marco Rolandelli and a great long-range effort from Alexander Potts. Eventually the possession paid off when after another good save, Marco Rolandelli scored from the resulting scramble. Half-time 0-2

The second half was much more even with Holmbury looking dangerous. Both sides were creating chances and Holmbury pulled a goal back after 5 mins and started to look for an equaliser. They nearly got it when a great shot rattled the Albury crossbar and then Ross Gilding made a good save to keep The Griffins in front. The two goal lead was restored mid-way through the half when Cameron Potts hit a powerful shot on the turn into the corner of the net following some good work from Joe Lockhart. Both teams continued to create chances but nether side could add to the tally. A good entertaining game with both teams playing some very good football.

Team: Ross Gilding, Will Edwards, Liam Langridge-Baker, Alexander Potts, Marco Rolandelli, Luke Pecorelli, Cameron Potts, Joe Lockhart, James Foulsham
