Here we go with Newsletter no.100 !
Now into it’s 9th season, the club has grown to a membership of over 200 players.
I well remember taking the very first training session on the New Road side of the Heath with just 7 young footballers, at U7 to U9 ages, as Eagles took off.
The Heath is well outgrown by our numbers now, and we are getting close on some weekends to reaching saturation point at Tillingbourne Front Side when the majority of our players are training or playing at home.
The first few players from 2002 have been right through the Eagles ‘system’ and have now left, the next logical stage being to begin youth football at U17-18 and on to full strength men’s football. The youth side will happen when the personnel make it happen.
We also have an ex-player now training within the younger age groups – Steven Robinson at U8 Eagles, whilst Harry Good, striker at U15, is our first homegrown qualified ref.

Well done to all the boys this morning for a great turnout and a good performance. To get 16 along to a friendly match is very impressive, particularly given the not-very-promising weather forecast. The match itself was a good boost to the confidence against one of the weaker teams in our Horsham League division. Peter Doherty helped himself to a hat trick in the first half and two more in the 2nd, Harry Hayes chipped in with four goals and the very impressive William Norton scored one and created many chances for others. The other goal was an own goal. If there was a criticism it was that we played much of the game without a midfield, as many of the boys stormed forward to try to get a goal for themselves. This left us undermanned at the back several times, particularly in the 2nd half, and against a better team (and without the abilities of Alex Schumacher in goal) we would have been punished. Once again, thanks to the many parents (and younger brothers!) who turned out to support the team. The boys always appreciate your presence and your encouragement. Report – Rod Saxby
Matches Played Saturday 14th November
Due to the foul wet weather, today was a complete match-day washout!
A different story at Wembley however, as a party of 50 players and parents from our club took advantage of 25 free tickets from the FA to attend the England U21 1-0 win over Portugal.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the occasion, a big thanks to Stuart Pearce for sorting the tickets.

Twin Oaks 6 – 4 Albury Eagles
U14s Horsham League Div A

Albury Eagles 2 – 2 Royal United
Tom Cantoni chalked up his fifth goal of the season as Albury Eagles under 14s took on Royal United currently the second placed team in the Horsham and District A league. Picking up the ball on the left side of the pitch and just outside the Royal area, Tom sent a shot curling into the right hand side of the Royal goal.
Before the kick off both teams gathered around the centre circle of the 'November sun' soaked Albury Heath pitch to hold a minutes silence ahead of Sunday's Remembrance commemorations.
In an evenly balanced game Royal struck first as Albury failed to react fast enough in defence, but they were not behind for long thanks to Tom Cantoni's equalising strike. Royal retook the lead and looked to be leaving the field at half time a goal up until a well worked cross from Christopher Brooks saw Lewis Keen glide into the six yard box to tuck away Albury's second levelling goal.
The second half saw chances from both sides with Albury's keeper Jonathan Pennock earning himself the man of the match award for his efforts to keep Royal out of the game and with better luck the Eagles might have seen themselves take the lead. But with no goals added in the rest of the match the points were shared which seem to be a fair result for both teams.
