U10s Tadworth League Div A

Redhill St Josephs 0 – 4 Albury Eagles
It was a miserable morning with the rain but the players made the best of it.
Possession of the ball was fairly even the first 15 minutes with a number of shots failing to find the goal for both teams. Our defence was strong with Jasper Whitefield and Brent Savage, and goalie William Edwards having to save the early attempts on goal. The forwards Sam Moldon and Jay Lawson had a number of attempts but St Josephs’ defence was holding their own. Our midfield Sam Breach and Daniel Cansell worked hard in both feeding the forwards and helping our defence when St Josephs were on the attack. The coaches decided to put a fresh pair of legs in midfield with our sub Archie Eve replacing Daniel, this helped with the Eagles keeping the pressure on and finally in the last minute of the first half, a back pass from Archie Eve to Brent Savage who was just inside their half produced a left foot booter that screamed into the back of their goal. Half time 0-1 Albury.
The second half started with the Eagles continuing to push forward with Sam Moldon giving Eagles their second goal after 7 minutes. St Josephs fought back but our defence and goalie kept them at bay. Back at the other end, confusion in the box allowed Jay Lawson to score after 13 minutes, then 2 minutes later a cross from Sam Breach found Archie Eve who pirouetted with the ball before it went into the goal.
Final score Rehill St Josephs 0 - 4 Albury Eagles.

It all started so well! Christopher Brooks chased a ball down the right hand side of the pitch, closely followed by Nathanael Farrant. Christopher took the ball to the corner of the penalty area and Nathanael cut into the box where Christopher's pin point cut back allowed Nathanael to tuck away Albury's first…………………….. Then Steyning scored six !!

Albury Eagles 7 – 1 Hearts Lions
A confident first-half display from the Eagles gave them what in the end was a comfortable win over a strong, battling Hearts’ team. The early stalemate was broken when a long range shot from Nathaniel Hallam deflected off a defender to defeat the excellent Hearts’ goalkeeper. The rest of the first half belonged to the Eagles with Sam Moldon in particular, tormenting the Hearts’ defence with his strong running. On one particularly mazey run, Sam Moldon twisted and turned his way through the Hearts’ defenders before weaving inside to win a clear penalty which he converted himself by blasting the ball into the roof of the net. The Eagles’ overall superiority was reflected in two goals each for Sam Moldon and Sam Breach who demonstrated the happy knack of being in the right place at the right time to help the Eagles to a 5-nil lead at half-time.
In the second half Hearts fought back strongly, testing the trusted Eagles’ defence of Brent Savage and Jasper Whitefield and calling upon the Eagles’ goalie, William Edwards, to make some excellent clearances before Hearts finally found the net with a well taken finish. In the end, though, the superior teamwork, midfield strength, epitomized by Nathaniel Hallam, and excellent intuitive passing of the Eagles won through and their thoroughly deserved victory was capped by two smartly taken second half goals for man of the match Jay Lawson.
