Welcome to the new season at Albury Eagles.
Our Horsham League teams (U11 to U15 ages) have already played a couple of games, whilst the Tadworth League mini soccer fixtures will kick off on 26th September.
It promises to be a very busy season ahead, as in addition to the usual activity on Albury heath, there will also be regular training and matches at two local schools, Tillingbourne in Chilworth and Broadwater in Godalming.
Applications are still coming in, with some coaches now operating waiting lists.
However, there are still player vacancies at U8, U12 and U13.
On to results and match reports:

Albury Eagles 2 – 2 Hurstpierpoint
Albury Eagles under 14's first home match of the 2009 season ended with the points being shared in a 2-2 draw against Hurstpierpoint. In a disappointing first half, the Eagles were far from their best against last year’s cup winners and league runners up. Due to some poor defending Albury found themselves 1-0 down after only 10 minutes, but thanks to a great run by Nathanael Farrant, who managed to arrive unmarked and undetected in the 6 yard box to slot in his first goal of the season and Albury's equaliser. Unfortunately, Albury's concentration waned again and the Eagles found themselves behind once more just before half time.
With a reshaped formation in the second half, Albury battled for more possession and were rewarded when Tom Beazley received the ball just outside the Hurstpierpoint area and then picking his spot, curled the ball passed the out stretched keepers arms to find the net in the bottom right-hand side of the goal. Both teams left the field at full time honours shared.

Dorking Saints Lions 5 – 1 Albury Eagles
Albury Eagles under 14s started their 2009/2010 season with a tough opening game away to last season’s League champions Dorking Saints. Albury started off well and dominated the first 20 minutes of the game until a rare Dorking attack lead to their first goal. Albury squared things shortly after though, when Christopher Brooks set off on a run down the left - hand side of the pitch to fire in a cross which new signing Lewis Keen turned in to the net to score on his League debut for the Eagles. Hoping to get to half time with a level score line the under 14s were disappointed to concede once again just before the break.
Albury failed to get to grips with the Dorking team early in the second half and saw two quick goals conceded in the space of five minutes. With another goal added to the Dorking total towards the end of the second half this turned this match into a disappointing result to a game that seemed to have started so well.
