U15s Horsham League Division A

Albury Eagles 2 – 2 Brockham Badgers ‘A’

This Saturday was the bottom of the table clash between Albury and Brockham. Both sides knew a loss would make their stay in the ‘A’ division very difficult. The most remarkable thing about this match was how bad it was. There was very little football played as both sides were desperate to win and desperate not to lose. Brockham took the lead when Albury goalkeeper Ben Walter lost the flight of the ball from a corner in the sunlight and ended up palming the ball into his own net.Albury reacted well and equalised when Luke Cannon got away from his defender and shot low at the near post to beat the Brockham keeper. Then the game became a game of poor control and bad passing until Brockham regained the lead when a cool side foot by one of their players looped the ball over the Albury keeper into the net. But with only 6 minutes to go Luke Cannon showed his pace got behind the Brockham defender to shoot past the keeper to equalise once more. The game finished 2 -2. The result suited Albury more than Brockham as they pulled 4 points clear of them at the bottom the league.

Albury Eagles 4 – 2  Kirdford

We took an early lead with a strike from Dan Cannon and things looked quite comfortable as the game progressed. Kirdford then equalised with a quick counter attack, their striker finishing well, just before James Hern caught him. The half continued evenly until a speculative effort from inside their own half lead to the ball bouncing wickedly over Will Walker’s head, the half finished 2-1 to Kirdford. In the second half the boys worked really hard and were rewarded with 2 more goals for Dan completing his hat-trick. In the last couple of minutes Harry Good strained a muscle and was replaced with Steven Lake; he worked some tight passing to enable Ollie Harris to score the 4th goal (some say inspired substitution!!!!). Man of the Match was Dan Cannon.

Albury Eagles 4 - 0  Cranleigh

A tired looking Albury under 13s  team took on local rivals Cranleigh Cougars in a game that was far from the level of outstanding performances that they have achieved over the last few weeks. The visitors kick started the home side into action with an own goal  which was closely followed by a strike from Christopher Brooks . An unlucky George Duff saw his header from a corner thunder back off the crossbar as Albury failed to convert a multitude of chances on goal. Eventually Nathanael Farrant tucked away Albury's third goal of the day just before the break to calm the nerves of the Albury team. The second half brought more passing play from the Eagles and the team were able to add one further goal in the match through Christopher Brooks.
